Do you feel like you’re not getting what you’d love in your life? It’s time to have a look at your intentions, as they hold the key.
We get what we intend to get.
It may not feel like that’s true, but so often we are not clear about our intentions, so we’re not aware of the problem.
We think we are going for something we want, like a healthy financial position, or a connected relationship, when really we are going for less financial stress or less conflict in the relationship.
That’s about intending to get away from what we don’t want.
In the process of creating what we want in our life, the power is in what we are focusing on.
Focusing on what we don’t want, what we want to get rid of, just creates more of the same stuff that we don’t want.
If you intend to have less conflict in your relationship, you are focusing on the conflict. Chances are you will be hypersensitive to the slightest change in tone of voice or twitching muscle in your partner‘s face, which might signal a conflict with what you are saying or doing. You are attuned to the conflict. Your senses bring their awareness to where the conflict is existing.
You can feel like you are really focusing on things being different, but the intention you’ve set means that your focus is creating more of what you don’t want.
Any goal that we set involves us taking steps towards it.
We imagine that the steps towards a healthy connected relationship and the steps away from conflict and distance are the same.
They are worlds apart.
The intention might be vague – like desiring a better relationship. What does that truly mean? Is it about being able to go off and do your own thing and have time and space on your own as well? Or is it about meaningful conversations, or finding a path to shared interests and time together?
We are capable of achieving so much more than we imagine. Clearly intending to create what we love allows the universe to arrange all the elements for our intention to be filled.
There are so many more possibilities for what you would love to arrive in your life than you or I are able to imagine.
But if we start with an absolutely clear intention of what it is that we would love to create, that is when the magic can begin. And the things that we can call coincidences, and synchronicities can begin to happen.
Setting a clear intention makes you more awake and alert to the opportunities that cross your path.
Decide what you would really love to have in your life. No matter how unattainable it might seem at the moment. Intend to get that.
Then start taking steps towards it. There will be obstacles and distractions, but as long as you stay focused on that intention and how it will feel when you achieve it, the ways around those obstacles will keep appearing.
Most 15 year olds would not feel like they have much power to have an impact on the world. As a 15 year old, Greta Thunberg decided to sit outside Parliament every Friday afternoon to push for climate action. Her intention was strong and clear enough that she created outcomes way beyond what I imagine she foresaw as she sat on those steps each Friday.
What would you love to create for yourself?
